The Scholarship Program awards are a living memorial to the Sky Soldiers of the 173d Airborne Brigade who made the supreme sacrifice in serving their country. The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to recognize the achievement and encourage members, spouses, children (natural or adopted), grandchildren, stepchildren and widow(er)s of regular members or deceased personnel killed in line of duty, who serve or served in the 173d Airborne Brigade or its attached units to continue their pursuit of higher education.
The Scholarship Committee rates each application sent to them without knowing the names of the applicants. All Committee Members pass their decisions to the National Scholarship Director who then works with the Chairman to decide the number of scholarships and amounts to be awarded. This varies from year to year by the amounts donated by members.
The scholarship program is supported by voluntary donations and charitable contributions from the 173d Airborne Brigade Association members and others.
The scholarship fund provides an opportunity for a better tomorrow by financially assisting Sky Soldiers and their qualified dependents in furthering their education.
The scholarship fund provide financial grants to students who are or plan to attend an accredited college, university, or higher technical trade school. Neither applications at the high school nor preparatory school levels are accepted.
Sky Soldier is defined as an individual who is at the time of application is a current member of the 173d Airborne Brigade Association or is a KIA. Qualified dependents are defined as a spouse, child, grandchild and stepchild of a Sky Soldier.
